FCG Update…

Deane Foote presented the 2015 Economic Developer of the Year from the Site Selectors Guild to Patty Lundstrom, Executive Director of the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation. The award was for Patty’s role in the development of an inland port project which helped bring the Navajo Nation, the State of New Mexico, local government and private developers together in a project that will help create jobs for Navajo residents. The award was originally presented at the Site Selectors Guild Annual Conference in Puerto Rico in February.

FCG partners with TPMA in Scottsbluff, NE

To assist Scottsbluff, Nebraska officials in reviewing and bettering their economic development services, Foote Consulting Group has joined forces with Thomas P. Miller & Associates (TPMA).

In the Scottsbluff Starherald.com, Scottsburg City Manager Rick Kuckkahn said, “We are taking it up a notch. The council, Twin Cities Development and most folks involved in economic development understand that we are doing a good job, but the competition has gotten keener when you look at other communities and the things they are doing. We want to bring ourselves into that top echelon of communities that are looked at by businesses.”

FCG and TPMA had their launch meeting earlier this month, meeting with city officials, as well as conducting face-to-face interviews with leaders and organizations from the community. Among those interviewed, were Scottsbluff Public Schools and Western Nebraska Community College. Findings were presented in a community forum.

Identifying target industries with growth potential and reviewing the city’s economic development approach and marketing plans are among the project goals. FCG and TPMA will share their successful Best Practices from comparable regions to help this process. The City of Scottsbluff will incorporate the final product into their comprehensive plan.
