Hello Readers!
Last week, Thursday, October 21st, FCG attended and presented at the High Desert Opportunity 2010 Conference at the San Bernadino County Fairgrounds in Victorville, CA. The
all-day conference, designed to target out-of-town business, was a great networking experience for site selectors, real estate brokers, consultants, and developers. The highlight of the day was the appearance and riveting presentation from Earvin “Magic” Johnson! Magic gave insight to his business success, saying, “When I started (in the world of business) I met with many community members and picked their brains about business. I learned about business from many people and then I added the same work ethic that used in Basketball.” He explained how he opened Starbucks stores in inner-city areas, and made them thrive by catering to the likes and needs of the customers. He recently sold his 50% Starbucks shares back to the company for $75 million. He is truly a wise businessman, and FCG was thrilled to hear him speak.
Our presentation focused on solar site selection. Deane touched on growth sectors, location and expansion trends, and understanding site selection criteria. You can view our Powerpoint presentation here: Solar Site Selection Today
Deane is very familiar with the Victorville (Apple Valley) area.
When he was working for Carter-Burgess (now Jacobs), he helped place the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in Apple Valley, CA.
FCG is now helping The Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce get ready for the Pack Expo International trade show in Chicago. It should be a good one! That’s all for now, Everyone, have a wonderful week!
Hello Everyone!
Deane and Paige have returned from L.A. with great new contacts and tons of awesome ideas! They also learned some new exciting trends at SPI,
including the fact that many foreign solar companies are actively seeking
manufacturing sites in North America in order to capture an exploding U.S.
market, and in order to meet local content requirements now in place in
Ontario, Canada.
FCG had a wonderful time at SPI! Where will we turn up next? Keep an eye on our blog!
Have a lovely weekend!

Hello Readers!
We will have a pretty full schedule over the next few weeks! Right now, Deane is in Columbus, OH for the IEDC Annual Conference. He is scheduled to give a presentation with Steve Vierck of Angelou Economics, Mike Davis of the City of Moraine, OH, and Carolyn Kennett, the Economic Development Director of Parsons, KS. The title, “Your Major Employer Leaves – What Now?” touches on creating jobs and restoring hope to areas that have been hit hard by the struggling economy in the United States. We will post the Powerpoint once the conference has come to an end.
Deane and Paige will be attending the Solar Power International 2010 trade show in Los Angeles, October 12 – 14! We sent out a flyer to a handful of exhibitors, and we are in the process of setting appointments. Are you going to the show too? Let us know!
I have yet to see any new files posted to the CoreNet Global site regarding Deane and Anatalio’s Phoenix presentation. I will post some links as soon as I see something!
Have a great week, Everyone!

Hello, Everyone!
Our last day at the Phoenix CoreNet Global Summit yesterday (Tuesday, September 21) was great! Deane spoke on the SNAP Session panel, “Secret Weapons: How Corporate Real Estate Executives Research the Best Locations,” with Anatalio Ubalde of GIS Planning. It was a great session full of helpful information. Particularly good advice was given regarding corporate real estate websites; the “dos” and “don’ts” of content compilation and placement. It is pertinent to see concise contact information and real estate data! In the spirit of the first SNAP Session about social media, presented by Ji Kim of Biggins Lacy Shapiro and Nate Stumpf of Development Counsellors International, FCG has created its own Twitter account: @footeconsulting and a Facebook account: FCG on FB.
Over a nice CoreNet lunch, Deane and I met with Janice Karcher, VP at the Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce. We are currently working on an important project with Janice and her team at the GRCC. It was a great meeting, and we are moving forward as scheduled!
I personally met some awesome people at CoreNet, and I would like to thank them all for making my first CoreNet experience so wonderful. CoreNet should have highlights from the event on their website shortly, so we will post some great stuff soon.
